An Easy jet flight took us to Keflavik Anna,Joan,Ken and I on a Bird Finders trip here we met Trausti Gunnarsson our leader and set off for
Njardvikurfitjum lagoon where our first predicted bird was a LBB Gull.
It was only 5 degrees as we saw our first Eiders.
Next stop a dock area near Keflavik produced good views of
Iceland gull.
Then it was the lighthouse at Gardsskaga ,sea watching here produced a Humpback whale,onwards to Sandgerdi then Grindavik for lunch at
Briyggjan(the pier) amazing lobster soup here.
After lunch the Reykjanes peninsula produced great views of Kittiwake and a statue of the Great Auk overlooking Eldey.
The basalt cliffs here were outstanding as we looked out to sea.
A large lake called Hlidarvatn produced Merlin and Great Northern,also a large flock of Long tailed duck and Scaup.
The church at Strandarkirkja was outstanding amongst Lupin Tern and Redshank.
Finally Liakur produced Black tailed godwits before we reached our hotel at
Hveragerdi.
